Worst Sylvester Stallone Mix – Warning – may ruin your day

(this video is so bad it can’t even be embedded – click “watch on youtube” to see)

It might aswell be Stallone week on ManCry,  with many of his films added this week. However I just stumbled across this video and it’s ruined everything for me. The video starts off like some sort of homo – erotic scene and gets better from there. This is a perfect example of the WORST music to put with a Stallone compilation EVER. Might aswell of gone with The Little Mermaid – its just as badly inappropriate. Is it just me or is Ariel hot? Anyway…… still a good video.

For all of you who are watching at work or sitting at home with your beer belly tucked under the desk – this is for you. From Rocky IV – classic. Somehow watching this makes me  feel fitter and more active already.  In fact I feel so active I’ll do something about it – Getting up and making a coffee. Hey if I can change, if you can change…….. we can all CHANGE….

Seeing as we have seen the music for inspiration, we might aswell see the film trailer : Enjoy!

Not as good as the original Rocky but never the less a great film.

If I could meet an Alien it would be E.T, he’s brilliant. Everyone loved this as a kid and still enjoys it today. Most people cry at the end including me. Anyone who doesn’t is probably both blind and deaf. His glowing finger is brilliant and the bad special effects make the film that much more of a classic. E.T you rock.

Memorable film quote “E.T. phone home”

Heres the soundtrack too – ummmmmmmmmm

Note: The kid is Henry Thomas, who later starred in Legends of the Fall – Epic

Rambo – First Blood (1982)

Now some people may find the Rambo series over the top but the fact is the first one is simply brilliant. Every man loves a bit of Rambo (if you don’t you’re wierd). Good soundtrack and some classic performances by Stallone.  Some good old fashioned proper stunts with vehicles and explosions. Non of this CGI hocus pocus …. Also who can forget the many many famous cheesy quotes to choose from . Lets be honest we’ve all used “Don’t push it. Don’t push it or I’ll give you a war you won’t believe. Let it go. Let it go” at least ONCE when in a heated argument.

Memorable movie quote

Are you telling me that 200 of our men against your boy is a no-win situation for us?
You send that many, don’t forget one thing.
A good supply of body bags

ManCry star rating ****** 6/10

The problem is Rambo isn’t so much a cry film but a film you watch and can’t help but say “haha classic ” and “ummm” to the TV while on your own.  The final scene is brilliantly ” ummmm”  but at the same time hilarious with the final line from Stallone… “find your LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGGGGS”

Either way it is a classic

Here’s the final scene

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

October 28, 2009 at 11:58 am | Posted in Film, Soundtrack | Leave a comment

This film is a masterpiece . Not much more to say about it. Who can forget Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins performances in this. Some superb music tracks and just a brilliantly done film. Other people were offered the role of “red” according to IMDB but you just can’t imagine anyone else than Morgan Freeman playing this role perfectly. I wonder how many prisoners in jail right now, have actually seen this and cried? Or more importantly how many have a pet bird ?

Memorable film quote

“I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don’t want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I’d like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can’t be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.”

And heres that song by the way….

(if you are listening to this at work and someone says im warning you turn this off… just put your feet up and smile )

The Green Mile (1999)

Asking the question “what’s that great film with that big black guy in?” to a group of  men can usually yield some dangerous responses, most including Lexington “Lex the impaler” Steele. However if you don’t know who that is (I don’t) you would hopefully say The Green Mile. This is a real ManCry film indeed.  Basic story we all know : ” about the lives of guards on death row leading up to the execution of black man accused of child murder & rape, who has the power of faith healing….”

Yes it might sound a bit depressing and religious reading the description but wow did I cry. It’s not often I get really emotional over the death of a mouse but I must admit I really did. Great film , superb job by all cast members and should be in every ManCry fans DVD collection.

Memorable movie quote ” I helped Del’s mouse become a circus mouse. Gonna live in a mouse city”

Rocky (1976)

October 25, 2009 at 9:39 pm | Posted in Film | 1 Comment

I know I may be giving away my age here, but this film was awesome before I was even born. Yet we all still managed to grow up watching the rocky films. This is the original and the best in most peoples opinion and I have to say its a close one for me. Rocky IV is brilliant but not quite the love story of the original . I hope Sly dies at the age of 103 after finishing filming Rocky 20: The Rocky Clone , despite eating steroids like Cheerios.

Memorable film quotes : “Adriannnnnnnnnnnn!”

Maybe not a ManCry while watching this but the next best thing, a big “ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm”, then off to the pub for a fight (which you lose)

Forrest Gump (1994)

Well who could forget this film! I don’t think I actually know anyone who hasn’t seen this film, well maybe new born babies haven’t seen it yet but that’s no excuse anyway. We all know the story of forrest gump and strangely enough we all have at least one friend we’ve given that nickname too! What would we have done without this film!

Memorable film quotes : “My momma always said, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”

ManCry star rating ********* 9/10

Stumbled across the soundtrack (over 1.3 million hits), so you might aswell listen to it aswell (peer pressure now….)   Can you picture every scene from the film while listening to this or is it just me!? Jennyyyyyyyyyyy

The Pacific – Coming 2010

*‘**Updated*** New trailers added

Well we have already covered Band of Brothers so we might aswell mention The Pacific . From the creators of BoB this series will no doubt be just as promising. Coming early 2010 – mark your calenders.

“Pacific” is an upcoming World War II miniseries produced by HBO and Dreamworks and is the successor to HBO’s mega-hit, Band of Brothers. It is scheduled for a television release on HBO in March 2010. “Pacific” is based on the books “With the Old Breed,” by Eugene Sledge, which was hailed by historian Paul Fussell as “one of the finest memoirs to emerge from any war,” and “Helmet for My Pillow,” by Robert Leckie (recipient of the Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Annual Award), as well as original interviews conducted by the filmmakers and Hugh Ambrose. Continuing the World War II oral history work begun by his father Stephen E. Ambrose (author of the book “Band of Brothers”), Hugh Ambrose serves as a consultant on the miniseries

The budget is rumored to be between 150-200 million dollars making it the most expensive television production ever produced and certainly the most expensive ever made in Australia!

The production will be based at Melbourne Central City Studios in Melbourne, Victoria, with filming to take place in Melbourne, where U.S. troops camped in 1943, and Far North Queensland. The HBO Films production has collaborated with Film Victoria, the Pacific Film & Television Commission, Ausfilm and the New South Wales Film & TV Office. Filming has finished will be shown in 2010.
